Dear all,
Since Friday I am in very critical situation.
Here is my setup:
HyperVM master, without virtualization on it.
HyperVM slave/openvz - vz01
HyperVM slave/xen - xen01
My both slaves are running with RAID5 software arrays, but at the Friday evening my xen array failed. I am not going into details about the array errors and how I finally manage to access and backup some of the data.
Here is my xen server file system setup:
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/mapper/VolGroup00-LogVol01
20G 3.9G 15G 21% /
/dev/mapper/VolGroup00-LogVol03
1.3T 309G 948G 25% /backup
/dev/md0 99M 49M 45M 52% /boot
tmpfs 3.8G 0 3.8G 0% /dev/shm
/dev/mapper/VolGroup00-LogVol02
20G 2.5G 16G 14% /var
none 3.8G 184K 3.8G 1% /var/lib/xenstored
/dev/mapper/VolGroup00-adenev_rootimg
28G 3.0G 24G 12% /home/xen/adenev.vm/mnt
Here are my logical volumes:
/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol01' [20.00 GiB] inherit
'/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol03' [1.28 TiB] inherit
'/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol02' [20.00 GiB] inherit

Here is some progress and status until now:
- I have manage to copy some of the most important root images of VMs to external disk.
- I have managed to install third xen server and connect it to my current HyperVM infrastructure. Lets say that server name is xen02, for reference further.
- I am unable to boot the xen01 server - kernel panic. Probably caused by the failed array.
- I have accessed data in recovery mode.
And now to the most important part for me - the Questions:
- How to migrate my saved VPS-es to new xen server?
- I am thinking of creating the logical volumes in new xen server(xen02) and copying the saved VPS-es there. How this will affect HyperVM?
- In HyperVM the xen01 server is there, but inactive, as well as VPS-es.
Thanks in advance for your help.

I am sure people are reading this. If there is no answer, that means nobody can answer your specific situation.
With my setup, I do a daily backup to off the server of the system volumes and also backup the user's own VM backups off the server. This way if there is a failure I have all of the backups and can restore the system and then restore each user backup.
