Hi i just want to ask if any dev here know whats the future of lxcenter is? I know some of the main dev's left and i want to know who is in control of the domain names now as the dev's that left lxcenter had the control? my question here because both lxlabs.com and lxcenter.org end this month or next month and if they are not maintained the licensing servers will stop and this will kill everyones installs. so please who know the answer to this and can 100% tell us they will be renewed.

lxlabs.com
Expiration Date: 30-Jun-2012

lxcenter.org
Expiration Date:21-Jul-2012

this is a big problem for anyone that has Hypervm. on June 30 if the domain is not renewed the license server will stop working and everyones Hypervm will be limited to 5 VPS server.

I think I'm correct on this please any one that know's more then i do please let me know!

the domain name lxlabs.com controls the license server is my understanding and it expires on June 30, thats 12 days!!!!!!!!!

Good catch, I'll see if I can do anything. Think about it though. There is a pretty easy fix on your end... /etc/hosts ...

what is the fix? if i change it in the host file will it not fail after it can't talk to the license server and still limit the amount of VPS's that it can control?

is it client.lxlabs.com that is the license server?

I don't know the name, but hopefully it will not come down to having to resort to using the hosts file, but you would populate the hosts file with the hostname and IP address and it wouldn't rely on DNS to resolve anymore.

so I did test your Idea and changing the host file does make it fail with adding client.lxlabs.com to the host with the wrong IP. your Idea may work as long as the client.lxlabs.com does not look to some other place that is using DNS to talk for the licensing server if its not part of the client.lxlabs.com. Im still not sure the "licensing server" is truly done at the client server as I have not had a chance to try and check the code.

this is the correct Ip for this:
66.197.145.23 client.lxlabs.com

Shazar
have you look at the client.lxlabs.com server or code yet?
Do you have access the DNS records of the domains?

The system will always look to the hosts file for name resolution first. I am working to get this renewed.

I understand my local system will look to the host file first, but what I'm saying is if the client.lxlabs.com server has to look somewhere else to get data and its done by DNS.
example would be if the mysql server is hosted on an other server that does this by DNS and it can't do the look up because the domain is not working it will fail. Im not saying its like that but i don't know how it works just like you so I'm just wishing and hoping in the next few days the domains gets renewed.

there is also lxlabs.net that is in the mix of domain names too.

if there is a need for cash to keep this going please PM me and we can work something out.

There was one registrar where I was able to renew a domain even though I wasn't the person who registered it. They just let you pay. This one doesn't allow that. So hopefully they get back to me shortly.
