Hi all I have just changed the joomla installapp to joomla 1.5.18. I will update the SVN as soon as i can but i would like it to be tested so please give it a try

you will need to remove or rename the old joomla folder and replace it with this one.
file path:
/home/kloxo/httpd/installsoft/joomla

http://lxcenter.yzhost.com/installapp/joomla.zip

to change the version number on the installer you need to change the info file @ /home/kloxo/httpd/installappdata/description/joomla.info

In our testing our servers seem to over wright this file during the nightly savage time, so with out the true understanding of all the savage functions i can only guess this is what is over writing the .info files.

Oh Wow! Joomla.. Thank you Troylight..

I also tried updating the .info files so I can add links to the admin area and update the descriptions but it does seem they get overwritten nightly. I tried changing the permissions to read only but that did not help. wonder if "chattr +i" will work for a temporary solution.

Lego that may work. we just need to get a real update out to fix that!

I have a question about joomla, we did not enable the FTP layer because there is no way for us to put the ftp password in the joomla config file, I was able to put the path and user but not the password. I want to know if it should have the FTP enabled or not even thought we cant get the ftp password in the config file. My vote is no but this is a community program now so speak up!

I also want to add some new script-programs to the installapp installer but cant find the code for this, anyone know how to add a new program. where is the code for the installapp installer?

If you can contribute that would be great Gec100..

I wouldn't worry about the SVN thing since you need to create an account to get access to the SVN repo. Danny from NetTuningGroup created an account for me but for some reason I can't commit the changes to the SVN repo. something about an authentication error. So just create the changes and zip/tar the files and hopefully if Danny or Arthur is not busy they can upload it to the SVN Repo for you.

Here is a link where you can find the status updates of the installapp scritps.

If you create say magento.info, place that in the

/home/kloxo/httpd/installappdata/description

then you can add a magento entry in "base_linux.data" it will add a link to the installapp installer menu

/home/kloxo/httpd/installappdata/description/base_linux.data

Create a folder with the same name as your .info in the installsoft folder and place your install file there.

you can also add an icon to your installapp menu in the following folder. I think it has to start with icon_magneto.gif

/usr/local/lxlabs/kloxo/httpdocs/img/installsoft

That was as far as I got, but never really tried to add a new script, so don't know if it will work.

hi boys and girls,

I now have a fully* working version of installapp (granted its out of date) but it works.

Simple replacement of lxadmin and kloxo strings for all the old apps.

*i think 1 app still has database issue and literally 1 or 2 are document root erroring Sad
(no point trying to fix them if new versions are out)

Ive built a tar of just the affected files (with dir's) so you can just untar over existing installapp and all should work again.

Ive also built the packages back up with the kloxo strings into full standalone tars.

Maybe it could be pushed out to kloxo users as an update, so at least they have a working installapp, and then perhaps updates as and when people submit them???

Anywho, if you want to try it out, ive put an open access account at: http://y2j.co.uk:7778 user: klox pass: klox

Let me know if dev team want the tars Wink

Jai

PS. WHILE your there, can you look at the db issue. left main menu front page says x used, go into the mysqldb manager and, well ull see Wink, any suggestions?

just a thought, most of the cms packages have a new full version, and they also have mini updates.

is there a way to insert the mini updates over the old ones, or to execute an update after the old install???

Hey Jmunki,

Appreciate you helping out.. in regards to your last questions you can have a look at the link, gives you an idea on how to update some scripts in installapp to newer versions.. some scripts are somewhat harder to update like Joomla since the install process is different then the version of Joomla currently in installapp.

If you guys have finnished an update, zip it and attatch it as file to the issue at the project website.

For example:

If you updated SMF in a working state,
Attach smf.zip to http://project.lxcenter.org/issues/225
etc etc.

If it is a new app, then create a new issue.

If you want to delete an existing app from the list (too old, stupid, not working after update, etc etc) then write that in the correct existing issue with as much details why to be removed from installapp.

Furthermore, you guys doing a great job! keep going!
