Haven't used HyperVM/Xen yet, but is it possible to make settings where it uses /dev/sdb for the VM's LVM, and then use /dev/sdc for the swap space?

We would like to achieve the ability to use SSD for the swap space for our clients, and offer standard slower drives for the VM itself.

Is this possible to do in HyperVM so the VM's are all created like this? I know it's possible if you setup the VM's manually and specify each parameter.

Yes you can. You would make it directly in the config file and use chattr +i on the file so HyperVM doesn't overwrite those changes.

Thanks for the reply Shazar.

Question, does HyperVM create a config file for each and every resource plan made in the HyperVM? If this is a Xen Slave machine, does HyperVM go off configuration file on the slave-node itself, or off it's own on the master server? Just trying to see how this is done. Setting up a test box with a SSD and a raid array to see how it is done.

Thanks for the answers, any further suggestions is appreciated.

The config is written from the database values each time HyperVM starts the VM. What I am not certain of is if there is a database pointer from the VM DB entry to the plan or if the plan is just used as a template to fill the values as a one time configuration. You can test this by creating a plan, using it, then changing the plan and rebooting the VM and see if the changes to the plan take effect on the VM.

I have implemented an easy way to do what you want through HyperVM itself, but waiting for it to be released.

Any chance to test that prior to it being released?
