This is a forum dedicated to the problems people face when they are trying to upgrade to CentOS 5. Lxadmin now comes with a script to upgrade to CentOS 5.

 /script/upcp
 /script/centos5-upgrade

If you run into any issues, please send a mail to centosupgrade at lxlabs.com with the login information, and our support person will login and fix it.

We strongly recommend that you upgrade to CentOS 5, since that contains a lot of new features and fixes that are not available in CentOS 4.

Thanks.

For Dedicated, you will need to first upgrade the kernel manually. AFter that, it will work fine.

thanks.

I'm going to do this on a colocated server, I noticed that some new scripts for upgrading were placed in the /scripts/ folder.

Do I use any scripts at all or can the update be done manually outside of LXAdmin?

We DO NOT USE plural. It is always /script

If you are seeing /scripts, most likely you are on a cpanel server.

Lxadmin/hyperVM's internal architecture is completely devoid of plurals. that's one of the greatest innovations in software design itself. :-)

thanks.

I'm not sure you understand my question, I want to update CentOS 4.5 to 5. Is this possible through the kernel (preferred) or do I need to run the scripts in /script ? If so, in which order do these scripts need to be run?

You need to just run one script.

 /script/centos5-upgrade

that's all. BUT before that, you have to upgrade the kernel.
